Reality Is What We Make It To Be
Reality is what we perceive. Different people see different things even in the same scene. The trick is to see reality as it really is rather than as you wish it to be. Once you lose your grip on reality. nothing is real and things are never again what they seem to be.

Facebook Timeline
The change is irreversible. Allows friends to search your entire posted output on FB from Day One. If you said shitty things about people who are now your “friends” they will be able to search and read every single post. The alternative is to reclassify all five zillion updates to close friends.

The Nook Tablet
When I was deciding on the Nook Tablet (which has a very cool keyboard, much better than the Galaxy tabs) as opposed to the Amazon Kindle Fire, the salesman told me a crew chief from the local air force base bought 5 for his crew to hold their technical manuals, and said the Nook was the right size to fit in their bottom cargo pocket of their flight suits. I figured if it was good enough for the...

You’re not really evaluating the context of what Im trying… As a dude I am mindful of how cretinous it is to make such stupid comments. If someone is buying food in a store or...

Excerpt from "The Hemingway Machine"
Time travel had been one of his dreams. Even when he was a kid, where others wanted to be train drivers or jet pilots, he wanted to be a time traveler. Not just any time traveler though, he had little interest in the past. It was the future he wanted to see. Jack Travers placed the half-eaten bacon sandwich back on the plate on the desk and picked up a screw driver. Now came the tricky part. The...

owenparsons: Perhaps this has happened to you: You are having a pleasant conversation with a friend when the topic suddenly veers towards something that, while utterly obscure, is a treasured subject of obsession for you. Perhaps someone brings up the franchise history of the Los Angeles… S’funny, I would never want to do that. I mean why would I want to bore the shit out of...

On Relationships
I recall when I broke up with my first girlfriend after 6 months, because she said she was bored, I hated anyone in a relationship. I really did, to the point a friend of mine had to tell me to stop with the hate becuase it was scaring his girlfriend. Well, that “friend” dumped the same girl and left her so badly fucked up she had constant panic attacks; and then the same...

One Hell Of A Christmas - Part The First
From The Private Diary of Sebastian Michaelis - 1887 I haven’t bothered with this journal for a while. This absence was occasioned by being trapped in a coal cellar with the young master, Lady Elizabeth and a coal demon for a long while. Still, we had an almost endless supply of Cabinet Pudding and Tea and used the time profitably to read the entire works of William Shakespeare. The young...

In case of emergency...
I found this item just now on what to do if your iTunes installation tanks, this procedure seems to be favored by the members of the BBS I found it on: App data is stored in only two places, on your phone & in your iphone backup. When you do hit the sync button, all itunes content will be erased from your phone. Because you formatted your hard drive, your phone now sees your computer as a...

Another look at the Book of Love →
I found this wikibook while checking to see if my edits on another wikibook had been reverted or not. I am somewhat surprised this book is around still. If the book had been written in the 60s, maybe it might be accurate, but there is nothing about LGBT relationships. Some of the comments the book makes are truly breathtaking in their naivete.

My first edited page on wikibooks.... →
Henry Wallace was once a friend of Truman’s but had become radical, and in some quarters, was considered a Communist. Truman’s great fear was with the Democrat Party effectively splitting into three factions, one moderate, one right of center, and one left of center, the Republicans would have a cake walk. In fact one newspaper called for Dewey before all the results were in, so...

Hemingway on Writing
You know that fiction, prose rather, is possibly the roughest trade of all in writing. You do not have the reference, the old important reference. You have the sheet of blank paper, the pencil, and the obligation to invent truer than things can be true. You have to take what is not palpable and make it completely palpable and also have it seem normal and so that it can become a part of experience...

Hemingway on Punctuation
My attitude toward punctuation is that it ought to be as conventional as possible. The game of golf would lose a good deal if croquet mallets and billiard cues were allowed on the putting green. You ought to be able to show that you can do it a good deal better than anyone else with the regular tools before you have a license to bring in your own improvements. Letter (15 May 1925); published in...

Distopia
Frank Weller waited at the check point behind a line of similarly nervous people. The federal guard was checking papers carefully, while two others stood guns at the ready. Three women and a small child passed the barrier and walked on to the bus at the station. Two men were stopped. Angry words were exchanged and they were lead away by another federal guard behind a long concrete building. Two...

A poem
My son sits up in bed and tells me he sees bugs I hold him close Tell him there is nothing there And they’re gone. On a Friday we go to The Waffle House He tells me “it’s awesome” I smile and sip my coffee We drive home listening to the Velvet Underground ‘Live At Max’s Kansas City’ Later he plays with Spider-Man Falls asleep watching...
